As I continue to dig through my resources for our Literature Review, I seem to be falling into a random-sequential spiral! My most recent detour from the task at hand, began when I read a research article based on the Cognitive Flexibility Theory (CFT). Where was my next stop? GOOGLE! After perusing a couple links, I happened upon the website: http://tip.psychology.org/spiro.html, which then guided me to Dr. Rand Spiro's home page, "Cognitive Flexibilty Theory, Hypertext, and the Post-Gutenberg Mind: Rand Spiro's Home Page," found at: http://www.cogflextheory.org. Dr. Spiro is the mastermind behind the Theory of the Cognitive Flexibility Theory. After reviewing some of the information on the aforementioned websites, I begun to wonder if I'm actually supposed to know about both the CFT and Dr. Spiro's work.
Everything that I am reading hooks directly into the ideas, theories, and educational practices that we discussed in our last course, "Bridging Learning Theory, Instruction, and Technology". From what I've read thus far, which hasn't been all that much, it seems as though the CFT weaves together the Cognitive Theory, the Behavioral Theory, and the integration of different forms of technology into an educational wonderland for those of us in this grad program. Please take a look at some of Dr. Spiro's work, I would be interested to see what you all think of his ideas. In the mean time, I must continue my quest for knowledge on the Partnership for the 21st Century front.
Happy Searching!
Courtney
